Wildlands Studies

Wildlands Studies is an immersive academic field studies program focusing developing practical on-ground skills to support conservation ecology, naturalist observation and the social-cultural context.

Members of EarthCollective create, lead and facilitate immersive tertiary education field programs for Wildlands Studies both in Australia and South Africa. The courses six-week experiential endeavour covers diverse areas of conservation ecology, from foundational naturalist skills to field survey techniques to interfaces with social-cultural contexts. Personal reflection and group discussion are integral components of the learning process.

Wildlands Studies is U.S-based and is an educational partner to Western Washington University’s Huxley College of the Environment. The organization has been providing diverse environmental field programs to undergraduates for over 35 years.

EarthCollective is a peer-to-peer network catalysing and enabling initiatives that enhance people’s relationships with nature, themselves and their communities. Over the past two decade, this initiative has grown a lot like mycelium: a purposed entanglement of energised interactions that nourish networks and sporadically fruit into visible expressions with tangible initiatives, organisations and outcomes.
